Oficina del Peregrino

At the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim’s Reception Office we welcome pilgrims who come to the city on foot, by bicycle or on horseback to the tomb of St. James.

The Pilgrim’s Reception Office is run by the Cathedral of Santiago, in the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela, and this is where we place the final stamp of the Cathedral of Santiago on the “credenciales de peregrino” (pilgrim’s credentials) and where the traditional pilgrimage certificate is issued, called the “Compostela”.

Pilgrim’s Reception Office

The Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago de Compostella is pilgrim central!  You’ll stop here, at the reception, to get your Compostella for finishing at least 100km of a Camino.  Your credencial, purchased from the CCoP with stamps from along your way (typically 2 per day) is the proof you need!

Caminos by Popularity

There are several Camino routes to Santiago de Compostella.  The Pilgrim Office keeps track of daily statistics of pilgrims stopping by the office. Are you curious about which Caminos are the busiest (most popluar) vs the quietest? You can find them all here.

Volunteer Opportunities

Some pilgrims confess that they would like to give back to the Camino all they have received by helping others along their journey, perhaps as hospitaleros in a hostel. The best way to do this is to contact Christian Welfare on the Camino de Santiago.
