Ruckle Park on Salt Spring Island is a stunning destination, known for its sweeping ocean views, lush forests, and historic heritage farm. With its long shoreline, rocky headlands, wooded trails, and quiet bays, it has long been a favourite place for hiking, camping, and watching boats pass by.
Getting There
Walkers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the meeting point at the day‑use parking area at the end of Beaver Point Road.
- BC Ferries departs from Swartz Bay to Salt Spring Island (Fulford Harbour) at 8:35 am.
- Sailing time: 20 minutes
- BC residents aged 65+ with valid ID travel free Monday–Thursday (excluding statutory holidays).
- BC Transit Route 9 – Ruckle Park
- Departs Fulford Harbour at 9:15 am and goes directly to Ruckle Park.
- The return bus leaves Ruckle Park at 3:46 pm for Fulford Harbour.
Please consider carpooling or using public transit when possible.
What to Bring

- Appropriate clothing for changing weather
Facilities at the park include washrooms and water stations. Along the trail, you’ll pass the park’s heritage farm stand, where homemade cookies are usually available for purchase.
Make a Day of It
Since Tuesday is Salt Spring’s Farmer’s Market in Ganges, and Salt Spring Island Cheese is located on the way to the park, you may want to visit these local spots after the hike and enjoy more of what the island has to offer.
We will be walking through an active farming area. Pets and smoking are not permitted.
