From the park\, the route follows a series of quiet residential streets and connector trails leading to the Rogers Street pedestrian overpass across the Pat Bay Highway\, then continues on to the Colquitz River Trail. \nAround the 5‑kilometre mark\, we will pass the Royal Oak Shopping Centre\, where we can stop for coffee at McDonald’s or Tim Hortons. From there\, the route goes through the tunnel under the highway and continues on to the Rithets Bog Trail. After leaving the bog\, we follow additional connector trails and quiet streets through the Broadmead area. The overall route is moderate\, with one short but steep staircase (equipped with a handrail) near the end. \nWalk Statistics: \nTotal Distance: 12 km\nEstimated Finish Time: 3 hours (with coffee)\nElevation change: 219 m\nDifficulty: Moderate\nSurface: Pavement and dirt trails

The trail continues downhill past several waterfalls\, giant cedars\, firs and a forest of ferns to the end of Charlie’s Trail.  This trail is very narrow\, up and down and can be muddy. Walking poles are advised. Bring water and snacks as there are no services along the way.  The lagoon can be windy\, intensely sunny and hot all at the same time. Our speaker Dennis Tam\, walked the Italian heart of this storied path – 550 kilometers from the rugged beauty of the Cinque Terre to the rolling hills of Tuscany and onward to Rome’s welcoming gates. \nAlong his journey\, he wandered through landscapes that stole his breath\, stepped into the deep well of Italy’s history\, and savored the food and wine that give each region its soul. DESCRIPTION:Where: Online at Google Meets \nThis online training session will focus on how to use https://onthegomap.com to create and follow local maps. We will record the session so you can come back to it when needed. The session will screencast using an iPhone however equivalent functions are available across other cell phone types.  The presentation will be about 30 minutes with a question/answer period to follow. \nIf you wish to follow along with your own phone\, we recommend logging into the session on a computer. Together\, we’re collecting donations that fund critical services at a local charity partner (Our Place Society) who serves and supports vulnerable families and individuals in our CNOY community. \nThis is a family friendly walk which starts at the Central Saanich United Church along East Saanich Road to Central Saanich City Hall and back to the church\, a total distance of 5.2 km.  This walk is open to all\, so please share this with your friends and family and come out to support a great cause. \nYou can get more information on the CNOY to donate or join our team here.
