There is parking on both sides of Cresswell Road. Our route takes us past several impressive old-growth Douglas firs\, a quiet lily pond\, to the peak of Mount Newton and the possibility of a short descent to Pickles Bluff. \nThe trails range from easy to intermediate with some hills and stairs. Please watch your footing and bring poles if you like using them. With its long shoreline\, rocky headlands\, wooded trails\, and quiet bays\, it has long been a favourite place for hiking\, camping\, and watching boats pass by. \nGetting There\nWalkers are responsible for arranging their own transportation to the meeting point at the day‑use parking area at the end of Beaver Point Road. \n\nBC Ferries departs from Swartz Bay to Salt Spring Island (Fulford Harbour) at 8:35 am.\n\nSailing time: 20 minutes\nBC residents aged 65+ with valid ID travel free Monday–Thursday (excluding statutory holidays).\n\n\nBC Transit Route 9 – Ruckle Park\n\nDeparts Fulford Harbour at 9:15 am and goes directly to Ruckle Park.\nThe return bus leaves Ruckle Park at 3:46 pm for Fulford Harbour.\n\n\n\nPlease consider carpooling or using public transit when possible. \nWhat to Bring \n\nWater and lunch\nHiking poles recommended (some trail sections are rugged)\nAppropriate clothing for changing weather\n\nFacilities at the park include washrooms and water stations.
