DESCRIPTION:Meeting Point: Beckwith Park\nMeeting Point Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CZnm7FwB4wMig5i86\nRoute Map: https://onthegomap.com/s/gcnd4r7l \nThe walk begins at Beckwith Park\, just off Quadra Street\, where there is ample parking. From the park\, the route follows a series of quiet residential streets and connector trails leading to the Rogers Street pedestrian overpass across the Pat Bay Highway\, then continues on to the Colquitz River Trail. \nAround the 5‑kilometre mark\, we will pass the Royal Oak Shopping Centre\, where we can stop for coffee at McDonald’s or Tim Hortons. From there\, the route goes through the tunnel under the highway and continues on to the Rithets Bog Trail. After leaving the bog\, we follow additional connector trails and quiet streets through the Broadmead area. The overall route is moderate\, with one short but steep staircase (equipped with a handrail) near the end. \nWalk Statistics: \nTotal Distance: 12 km\nEstimated Finish Time: 3 hours (with coffee)\nElevation change: 219 m\nDifficulty: Moderate\nSurface: Pavement and dirt trails

We will follow the Glendale Trail walking on both trails and along country roads. After passing Camosun College we will walk near the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific and take the historic Interurban Rail Trail to our final destination at Mosi Bakery Cafe & Gelateria on West Saanich Road to have coffee and a snack. SUMMARY:Royal Roads Walk
DESCRIPTION:Meeting Point: Colwood Park and Ride\nMeeting Point Map: https://maps.app.goo.gl/HeuT5cvZcnYkabgq6\nRoute Map: https://onthegomap.com/s/v3e13qjm \nThe walk starts on the Galloping Goose trail and leads into Royal Roads University (RRU). The trail continues downhill past several waterfalls\, giant cedars\, firs and a forest of ferns to the end of Charlie’s Trail.  This trail is very narrow\, up and down and can be muddy. Walking poles are advised. Bring water and snacks as there are no services along the way.  The lagoon can be windy\, intensely sunny and hot all at the same time. Dress for the weather. \nFor those who wish\, at the end we’ll have a coffee break at Pilgrim Coffee shop nearby. \nWalk Statistics: \nTotal Distance: 13 km\nEstimated Finish Time: 3 hours (with coffee)\nElevation Change: 229 m\nDifficulty: Medium\nSurface: Pavement and dirt trails
